I guess I should have explained myself better. I have performed 3 System restores!! It's not that, it's Microsoft. My Dad has the exact same computer, today I took mine over, swapped hardrives and with his HD in my computer it did the same thing. When i put my HD in his computer and did another restore boom it took off and worked perfect. Took my HD back out and put in my computer WHICH IS IDENTICAL except for the replacement motherboard (which is the same, just not from Emachines) back to the original problem. It has to do with liscensing and reading the BIOS on the mb. It knows I replaced the mb, and for some reason I am being told that means I need to buy a new copy of WINDOWS!! How can that be??? I'm told this is happening to people who put new video cards/sound cards, processors etc. Why does upgrading my computer mean I neeed to purchase a new copy of Windows???
Again just to reiterate I DID NOT UPGRADE MY COMPUTER, I simply replaced a fried mb. I was told by Emachines that they would have sent the same board that I purchased. If it's not the mb that came with the computer you need a new copy of Windows! There has to be a way to make my computer work without doing that.
