my friend the little yellow sheild

HI, in my toolbar a little yellow sheild has implanted iteself. I remember one of these last time I had problems but last time it was clicked on. I was hoping you could help me dispose of it.

The yellow shield could be a prompt from Windows updates
If you open the Windows Control Panel
Open Automatic updates

What are you set at?
Auto>>Download but don't Install>>Notify?

I checked my settings, I am set at automatically download and install.
This shield has no type of identification and has no exit option. When I right click it I get a box automatically that has the following

Automatic Updates
How do you want to install updates
Windows found 2 updates. Some updates require that you first accept an End User License Agreement

Express Install (Recommended)
The easy way to install updates that are applicable to your computer. This will ensure that your computer is up to date with the latest software.

Custom Install (Advanced)
Note: you may need to restart your computer for the updates to take effect

                                                Install           Cancel


I am probably being totally paranoid but after what happened last time (it all started with a screen saying there are updates to install) I don't want to take any chances.

Do the Express Install
Reboot the computer afterwards

See if that helps
Post back a fresh hijackthis log afterwards, I just want to check on something

If your still around

I was just going to suggest
You don't need the following running

Access your add/remove programs and remove
Viewpoint Manager <- you may have more than one entry related to Viewpoint, remove them all

(1) Start RealOne Player (2) Tools - Preferences (3) Automatic services in the Categories pane (4) Uncheck all options and then OK

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe


After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Reboot the computer
