Rebooting problem
« on: October 12, 2006, 02:12:58 PM »
I've had this happen a few times now. Not all Too offen but enought for me to wonder why it was happening in the first place.

This is what happens:

Sometimes during a game im playing, sometimes as im typing quit, and there was one time not in a game as well.

During a game it would pause (so to say )and the same sound i heard in the game get repeated over and over and over intill my comp reboots all by it slef. Loaded back windows and i would get a error message saying:

Windows has just recovered from a serious system error send or dont send typical error message.

During the times when i quit the game. I get back to my desktop. However I can move my mouse arrow around the screen but will not respond to me clicking things. ctrl alt delete will not allow the process list to appear. If i hit it a few times a hour glass comes up in place of my arrow nothing ever happens. Cant click my start menu to reboot cant do anything. I am still on line tho cause i can click my hotkey for ventrilo and speak thur my mic and chat to members on my ventrilo.

Then either the comp reboots all by itslef and i get the same error message; or i have to hold in the button on the comp and make it reboot. when it returns to the desktop again i still get the same error message.

I just recently build a new comp all new hardware. I was getting this problem at lot when i reinstalled windows and it was ONLY happening when i played a hl2 mod. hl1 mods worked fine no errors. I decided to wipe the c drive and reformat reinstall windows started fresh again. fixed the problem hl2 and hl1 worked fine.

Just recently it happened, I've been on line for 2 months seen the error 4 times now.

Heres my computer specs:

ASUS A8N SLI Premium Mother board
70 gig Harddrive
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Duel-core 4400+ processor
OCZ POWERSTREAM 600watt power supply ATX 12V, ESP12V PCI EXPRESS & BTX ready
Geforce 7900 GS OC 16X PCI EXpress 256MB GDDR3
Geforce 7900 GS OC 16X PCI EXpress 256MB GDDR3
Both video cards linked of course.
2 gigs of Corsair RAM

Mr.bell ( a good friend of mine) told me to come here. Says you have helped hiim trouble shoot a few problems and talks highly of you. He also says you would ask me for a text of hijack this soo i went ahead and did this already

Can you do the following
Right click MyComputer
Left click properties
Select ADVANCED tab
Select SETTINGS under :Startup and Recovery:

and then take the check out of
AUTOMATICALLY RESTART
OK and APPLY out of there

The next time the computer blue screens please post the whole message
I would like to see a full dump file, but let's see what the above provides
