So it isn't actually a Runescape site or supposed to be, it just kind of turned into one... Also Josetann, what does the company that owns this website actually do? because it seems a little interesting.[/quote]
Here's a quick history of the site.
I'm part of the Maximum [P]rivate [C]lub, or [PC] (a play off of PC as in personal computer). They use the delphiforums, and it sucks. Forums lack features, chat never works, stuff like that.
I decide to start up a tech website of my own, and will get some halfway decent forums. I settle on WWWThreads, which later was bought and turned into UBBThreads, I didn't like that so I switched to Invision Power Board, which is what we use now. Also installed irc for chat (speakinf of which...I should really get that going again). People start hanging out in #techchat, the new unofficial MaxPC chatroom.
Site grows, we move from server to server, even hosted it here at home for a few months or so, then built a custom server for it and shipped it off to Dallas, TX to be colocated. That server is toast, but there's still a backup server for TTG in that same colo facility.
Forums grow, site is neglected, I have put on some BlackFriday sales one year, traffic skyrockets, parts of the forum start growing (such as Runescape taking over Frag Fest thus prompting me to create it's own section), and now I'm starting to work on getting more content for the site (there's about 18 new game reviews for the Wii and Xbox360, another 16 or so are coming soon and will include the DS and PS3).
Fun fact, we had a magazine once...just one edition, didn't catch on. They're super rare, only like a dozen were made, printed on the best printer I had, and the CD was burned using the best media I had (BTW, the best I had wasn't that great, sorry). Who knows, we may revisit this at some point in time.
