Win2k Virtual Memory issues

Hi there,

Hoping someone can help with a Win 2000 issue. Have recently run updates from MS site (SP 2 + IE6) and started having issues with the page file. Everytime I start windows it tells me there has been a problem with it and suggests increasing it\'s size in the usual way. Having done this several times - I changed both min and max values to zero - restarted and tried again - Same thing.

Any ideas besides a re-install ?

I am curious as to why you set the minimum and maximum to zero.  That will never work.  There are many different arguments as to how to set your swap file size correctly.  But setting the maximum to zero is not one of them.  There is a difference between not limiting the maximum and setting it to zero.  Try this for starters.  Set your maximum and mimum to 1.5 times your RAM.  This number can be directly taken from the Recommend number because Windows 2000 uses this same math as well.  Setting the max and min to the same number will reduce pagefile fragmentation.  There is no guarantee that these numbers will be optimal for your system but it\'s a good start to get your system to boot.  Good luck.

on the properties of the c drive, security tab -- is the everyone group there?

if the everyone group is not there then this error will happen

leave the everyone group on the root of the c drive with full permissions.
