I have not seen many Networking questions here but I am going to give this a try.
Here is the question. I bought a server an old Proliant 800. Pent. Pro 200 128meg. I have bought a matched set of pent. pro 200 but need to buy a voltage regulator for second procesor. I am running Advanced Server. I have set up a domain and have 2 client computers on the domain. I have set up DNS on the server as well as DHCP. I have a cable conection (comcast formally @home). My servers DHCP works fine or at least it will give out address in the scope I have specified. But for DNS when I set the TC/IP properties to that of my servers IP I can\'t connect to the internet. Here is how the cabling is; cable modem to router, cable to server, another cable to client from router.
The server does have 2 NIC\'s. Can I run the modem to the Server then use the second NIC to connect to the Router?
I know this is not an easy question and there is no easy answer. If you have suggestions or a good site I can go to or even recomend a book I would be greatfull.

David,
You mentioned a router, is this a cable router?  If you want your client ip\'s assigned by the server, you first should disable the DHCP on the router (if it is a linksys cable router or such).  Secondly, for the client machines to use the server as their DNS server, you should include a DNS entry in the DHCP scope instead of assigning it at the client side (going to the machines and setting the DNS IP address manually at the machine), in that DNS portion of the DHCP scope, use the comcast DNS servers IP addresses.  Make sure to turn on DNS FORWARDING in your servers DNS server.  Make sure that your servers IP settings point to itself as a DNS server.  If all of this is confusing, first answer the router related questions above and we\'ll go from there.  You can email me directly, just take the 9\'s off the front of the address.
