Follow up on my 4 pc\'s 1 mouse and keyboard post.

I guess i should post this in hardware but the orginal post was here so why not. I already typed this once so if this seems incomplete it\'s because like a millisecond i went to hit post...for some reason my browser went to the windows update page and would not go back...wtf is that all about i dont know.

Ok i went with the below..

GWC KS 104 4-Port

Im extremely happy. The price was 60usd including shipping from at newegg.com. and 4 KVM  cables were from here....... at cableclub.com...which im NOT happy about AT ALL!!, but read on.

The box has 4 switch\'s for each computer which is nicer then having one toggle switch to switch between them. However i dont use it. It has the hotkey option of hitting ScrollLock 2 times within 2 seconds then pressing the up or down arrow\'s depending on which way you want to cycle through...so that is nice.

The main keyboard and mouse plugin\'s go in the front of the box which is totally inconvient. This makes me have to have it off the desktop or else the 2 ps2 cables in front get in the way. However ive only used this thing for like 9 hours and the hotkey option is defiantely the way to go.

You can only have just 1 ps2 cable hooked up in the back and it will work. The reason for this is because i think it has a external 9V DC adapter. Which sux, but i dont think a selfpowered one would be able to get enough power to just use only 1 ps2 port in the back. I could be wrong however since this is my first KVM i have had to play with that i own myself.

You have to have a keyboard plugged in if you want to use a port. If you dont...like just have a monitor and mouse plugged in for a computer...it will let you switch to that computer but since there is no keyboard you can no longer use the hotkey function. You have to actually hit the switch button. However...i have found just minute\'s ago that if you realize you fuct up and toggled to a computer that doesnt have a keyboard plugged in...you can hit ScrollLock 2 times real fast (I mean real fast) and escape that flaw. I run a win98 machine for only jukebox and answering machine purpose\'s so i really dont need the keyboard. However i went ahead and pluged in the keyboard now just to avoid the hassle.

The time it takes to switch between computers is no time at all...maybe like half a second. ive heard other\'s taking a second or even several...so this isnt a issue on this kvm.

It says\' that is supports up to 1920xXXX resolution but i cant say the quality on that res. I however have it running at 1600xXXX and it looks fine. So it does have good SVGA signaling. I again have read other\'s have problems (mainly really cheap ones).

The cables i got are good...but the shipping was a joke. First off the shipping from newegg.com was good...took 3 days. Ok back to the cable\'s. I spoted the price for these cables at www.pricewatch.com. it listed them as a price of 4 for the cable and 4 for USPS shipping from www.cableclub.com. Ok this is a LIE!!!!. When you link to the page and get to the shipping method part...you dont have a option for the 4usd USPS shipping method...the lowest option i saw was 7.99 or something for some really dirty way to ship. So i figured it\'s agood price so i took a option that was 13usd for shipping. Ok, i know 13usd is not that much...but i ordered them on a tuesday...and didnt get them until monday. That\'s 6 days...alright a person could run the distance from there to here in 6 days ...this was zhitty.  I complained of course because this is stupid. Both newegg.com and cableclub.com seem to be located in california. So it takes newegg.com 3 days to ship a package to my house for only 5usd...but cableclub.com 6 days for 13usd....yeh right. cableclub.com has a horrible shipping price for a lousy service....that is the bottom line. cableclub.com seems to be FRAUD when it comes to shipping in my opinion. THEY SUX. If i would of know it would of took that long at that price i would of ordered from a different company at a lower price and got them faster. I figured 13usd could atleast get the package here in 3 days tops...cableclub.com sux. I think if i would of took that 7.99usd option for shipping...there would be a small 2 engine bi-plane experiencing turbulance flying over Tibet right now carrying only chicken\'s, illegal fire arms, and my package bouncing back and forth off the chicken\'s and bazooka\'s.

All in all..i made out paying a total of 88usd and im extremely happy. It does everything i need it to and work\'s fast and accurately. Im using a wireless keyboard and mouse made by logitech with a usb2ps2 adapter and it works fine. I thought maybe having those adapters might screw somethign up but it work\'s like normal.

It works in the following that i have tested...which i imagine them all. Linux Redhat, Linux Mandrake, FreeBSD, Win98se, win95, MacOS X.   After getting it to run in all these i imagine it works on anything that can be ps2 compliant.
