Can you try a clean install of Avira and see if it makes any difference

First: If you still have the installer for Avira, delete your copy
Download a fresh copy of Avira AntiVirus from HERE
Save it to your desktop, but Do Not install it yet

Second: Download and save to desktop
Avira AntiVir RegistryCleaner
After you have saved it, Extract the contents to it's own folder on desktop
Do Not run it yet

Third:
Access your Add and Remove programs and uninstall Avira AntiVirus
Afterwards, reboot the computer

Fourth: Back in Windows Open the extracted folder of Avira AntiVir RegistryCleaner
Double  click on RegCleaner.exe
Follow any prompts, when done, reboot your computer again

Fifth: Reinstall Avira AntiVir, ensure to get the latest updates
Reboot the computer one last time
See if it runs any better now

Sorry for the long wait. I've done that and it does seem to work better now. Thanks for all your help. This computer is much less aggravating now. Thanks again =)

You can go ahead and uninstall MalwareBytes Antimalware from Add/remove Programs if you no longer want it, or you can keep it and update/run scans occassionally, your option

You can manually delete ATF-Cleaner.exe from desktop, or keep it, again, your option

Delete Dial-a-Fix.zip and it's extracted folder from desktop

Delete the Avira registry cleaner folder and it's zip file
Delete dss.exe and it's other folder if found>>C:\Deckard

I notice you don't have the following tool installed
I would use it for extra protection
SpywareBlaster  by JavaCool
    *Will block bad ActiveX Controls
*Block Malevolent cookies in Internet Explorer and Firefox
*Restrict actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer
After installation, Check for updates
After updating, select "Protection Status" on the Left
Then select "Enable all Protection"
"Check for updates every couple of weeks"
after every update just simply click the "enable protection on all unprotected items"
or again, click on Protection Startus>>enable all protection
