mouse probs?
« Reply #20 on: July 14, 2008, 09:18:48 PM »
thanks, im going to try the setting mouse priority one. the only way ive got it working so far was setting hl.exe priority to low, so im thinking mouse priority high might fix this. and also today with task manager open while cs was on, i noticed cpu usage at 100% while playing, does this sound like a overheat issue? i mean the computer doesnt lag at all, or shutdown.. if so do you think that glue stuff that goes under the heatsink/new bigger fan will help?

Doesn't sound like an overheat issue
CPU useage is different

Anyways, I looked back up at the Hijackthis log you posted
Have you installed eye candy such as Vista Sidebar

Any program such as that contribute to higher CPU Useage

Post a fresh hijackthis log, include the Whole log, you cut off the top
And it looks different from when you posted Main.txt from dss.exe, which runs Hijackthis also

Did you check any CS forums for any similiar problems to yours?

In addition, leave your task manager open, does it remain at 100%
If so, what process is using all the CPU?

heres a site i found showing how it's a common issue, and how most people fix it by setting a certain file called hl.exe to low priority, which does seem to help for me aswell. http://www.gotfrag.com/cs/forums/thread/244975/ , about the ati thing you told me to get rid of before i did what you said so i thought it was gone, ive since deleted it via hijackthis.

my whole hijack this log shows,

If CSS is running fine, then leave it that way. When running css you will always have the cpu usage running high - this changes depending on your clock speed of your cpu and video card. Like I said, if it's running fine, then leave it that way, but if it is slow then you can always lower the graphic options in-game.

I'm with Matthew on this, if the game is running fine, don't try and fix what and ain't broke

On the other hand
I'm not sure why these entries on your hijackthis log
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [LClock] C:\Program Files\LClock\LClock.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Vista Sidebar] C:\Program Files\Vista Sidebar\sidebar.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ViStart] C:\Program Files\ViStart\ViStart.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ViOrb] C:\Program Files\ViOrb\ViOrb.exe

Can you do the following
supply an uninstall list from Hijackthis
Open Hijackthis>>Open MISC TOOLS SECTION>>Open UNINSTALL MANAGER
Click the SAVE LIST... button
Save the list to your desktop then copy>>Paste back here the Whole contents

If the following entries are still in your log fix them

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [LClock] C:\Program Files\LClock\LClock.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Vista Sidebar] C:\Program Files\Vista Sidebar\sidebar.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ViStart] C:\Program Files\ViStart\ViStart.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ViOrb] C:\Program Files\ViOrb\ViOrb.exe

Optionally, you may want to tick the next ones too
to help save on system resources and startup time
Determine if you need them running on startup
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Adobe Reader Speed Launcher] "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\Reader_sl.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background
O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Gamma Loader.lnk = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration\Adobe Gamma Loader.exe

Note: The last one, here is what one user suggested
Quote
Adjusts monitor colours across all programs including Photoshop. It is needed by some graphics professionals who want their monitor calibrated. Most home users will not need it. In my case I can verify this as Photoshop loads fine

After you have ticked any of the above entries, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Reboot the computer
