What operating system are you using?
What program are you using to burn with?

Are you saying you have 3 different burners and none will burn to CD-R only?

Have you tried different media>>Different type of CD's?

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

Follow the instructions posted http://www.thetechguide.com/forum/index.php/topic/22942-please-read-how-to-post-logs-from-frst/\'>Click Here

Can you do the following
Access your Device manager
Right click on MyComputer>>Select Properties>>select Hardware tab>>select
Device Manager

Expand CD/DVD Roms
Are all drives recognized, can you right click on each drive and select properties
Are all drives working properly, any error codes?

When did you first notice this happening? Any new software installed?
Any new CD or DVD drive installed?

Are all drives recognized in MyComputer?
If all, or any are recognized in MyComputer
Can you right click on your drive(s)
Select Properties>>Recording tab
Ensure there is a check in "Enable CD Recording on this drive"

Did Sonic, Roxio come preinstalled with your system?
Do you know what versions they are?

Sorry about all the questions, but it all may be of some help

Can you also do the following
We have a backup of that registry export you first posted
Can you additionally export the following

===Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad)
Hit OK
Copy the contents of the CODE box, not including the word "code"
Paste it to the empty Notepad file
In Notepad click FILE>>SAVE AS
IMPORTANT>>>Change the Save as Type to All Files.
Name the file as export2.bat

Save this file on the desktop

Code: [Select]
regedit /e export2.txt "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CD Burning\Drives"
export2.txt

Double click on export2.bat
Post back the contents of the text file that opens

Thanks again for helping

Only found out about the problem when I tried to create a DVD for my reunion a few days ago.
I did install several programs since creating my last good DVD's

CD properties do not show RECORDING - shows only autoplay, hardware * sharing
see hardware results below

Looks like the problem lies with the registry - big difference - my desktop is missing the BURNING info in the reg that my laptop has

My DESKTOP with drive problem
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CD Burning\Drives]

My Laptop DVD-RW is OK and all software works fine including ROXIO & SONIC
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CD Burning\Drives]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CD Burning\Drives\Volume{37a8fe16-30cd-11db-9c67-806d6172696f}]
"Drive Type"=dword:00000001
"CurrentCDWriteSpeed"=dword:ffffffff
"MaxCDWriteSpeed"=dword:00000018

The drives in my desktop computer show up fine when right click CD icons

HDS7280800PLAT - disk drive
Generic USB CF reader USB Device disk drive
Generic USB MS reader USB Device disk drive
Generic USB SD reader USB Device disk drive
Generic USB SM reader USB Device disk drive

HITACHI_DK23FA-80 USB Device  disk drive
ASUS CRW-4832AS DVD/CD-ROM Drive
HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8163B DVD/CD-ROM Drive
NEC DVD_RW-2510A USB Device DVD/CD ROM Drive

ROXIO Easy Creator ver 6
I reinstalled the software with the same problem

SONIC - a limited version came with the system
same prob as Roxio

I would of liked a bit more information
was there any error codes in Device manager?

The problem may lie within older version of Roxio, but for now, can you try the following please

Can you disconnect your External USB CD/DVD drive

Afterwards
Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad)
Hit OK
Copy the contents of the CODE box, not including the word "code"
Paste it to the empty Notepad file
In Notepad click FILE>>SAVE AS
IMPORTANT>>>Change the Save as Type to All Files.
Name the file as fix.reg

Save this file on the desktop
Ensure to copy from REGEDIT4 and down in the code box

Code: [Select]
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}]
"UpperFilters"=-
"UpperFilters.Bak"=-
"LowerFilters.Bak"=-

Double click on fix.reg and allow to add/merge to the registry at the prompt
Do not reboot the computer yet

Instead
Access Device manager
Right click on MyComputer>>Select Properties>>select Hardware tab>>select
Device Manager
Expand CD/DVD Roms

Right click on each drive and choose Uninstall
Don't reboot until all are removed
Then reboot the computer

Windows should detect both after bootup
See if that helps

If not, you may have to redo that procedure, but this time
Download latest PXEngine first and unzip and install it
Here's instructions
http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/General%20I...mation/000008GN

Let me know if that helps

The final step, executing Roxio Engine_v6.2.0.134.exe made all ROXIO modules functioned properly. Before that, only the drag-to-disk module worked properly.
Thanks again
