Computer hardly moving. McAfee needs o be deleted, it is out dated. Can't delete the add/delet won't open, to slow, it hangs.
Please let me know where to start to clean this mess up. Thanks. CPU running at 100% all the time.

Can you do the following


If you have an older version of dss.exe
Can you delete your copy, I need you to have an updated copy

Download [color=\"#008000\"]Deckard's System Scanner (dss.exe)[/color] to your desktop.
Close all applications and windows.
Double-click on dss.exe to run it and follow the prompts.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open; main.txt, which will be maximized and extra.txt, which will be minimized.

Post back the Whole contents of Main.txt and Extra.txt

Sorry for the delay, can you do the following
I want to see what we can find
If you have an older version of ComboFix, can you delete it please

Then do the following
why not post an uninstall list from Hijackthis
Download this file - Combofix.exe and save it ONLY to your desktop

Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
By default it will save a copy to C:\Combofix.txt
I'll need to see this log later
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Post back the log from Combofix

I would like to try one more scanner please
download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here
Save the installer to desktop

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Full Scan", then click Scan.
       
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
       
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
        * When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
       
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediately.

supply an uninstall list from Hijackthis
Open Hijackthis>>Open MISC TOOLS SECTION>>Open UNINSTALL MANAGER
Click the SAVE LIST... button
Save the list to your desktop then copy>>Paste back here the Whole contents

This is a family members computer who uses AOL, I believe AoL give its users a free copy of McAfee. The current copy is outdated and I need to remove it. The family member is not computer literate and may never load the free McAfee version, I will keep the AVAST.

You shouldn't now have a problem removing McAfee
But before you do, you should download a new Firewall software

Did you have something in mind?
There are plenty of free ones

How old is this computer, it would be a good idea to update the amount of RAM
Are you willing to do this, I see 256mb only installed
It could sure use at least another 256mb if the system will allow
What's the exact make/model of computer?
