Windows XP sp1modded how?
« on: November 24, 2002, 07:01:53 AM »
I\'m trying to make my own Windows XP cd-rom.
My Problem is, that i\'m trying to use a modded uxtheme.dll from www.tgtsoft.com, i tryed to cab it and save it as UXTHEME.DL_ as this file contains the orginal.
When I try to install xp i get an error at that file. Hope that you can help.

Thanks

i have no clue what that does...but it doesnt look like you need to cab it. Looks to me as if it is a .dll. Trying leaving it the same.

If you do have to cab it...then good luck because im sure there is some sort of encryption scheme, crc, fingerprint, watermark...something to verify if it is a orginal.

FDV here, too lazy to log in.
In win2k, slipstreaming a modded file _can_ result in an installation where sigverif authenticates the file as digitally signed. In order to avoid explaining how to do this particular thing, I\'ll just point you to:
http://home.earthlink.net/~vorck/
It\'s a page about removing IE from win2k, but I do outline how to put modified files into a slipstream.
When I did win2k, some mdded files worked fine, some caused a crash on install. I don\'t know if the process will work with XP at all, but it\'s worth a shot.
