XP Home Edition Problem
« on: August 10, 2008, 10:36:36 PM »
A while ago i had xp installed on my computer and decided to switch to ubuntu. After a while I regretted not keeping xp installed. I really want to install xp again but do not want to buy a new xp home edition. I have Windows XP home edition upgrade disc but it will not work because i do not have a previous version. I have the product key and everything. Is there any work around to be able to install windows xp home edition with the upgrade disc?

You cannot install a fresh copy of windows off of an upgrade disk. You have to buy a full version of Windows in order to preform a fresh install.

Do you have a full version of an older Operating System
Such as Windows 98?
It should work if you do

Here's more info

Scroll down and start looking at Step 7 under Pre-installation checklist
