[Windows 2000] Need a tool to get Superuser-Rights
« on: November 12, 2002, 06:31:58 AM »
hi guys,
just discovered this forum. seems to be a pretty nice atmosphere in here. http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />
well i\'ve got a problem and i perhaps someone in here could help me:

in our school we all use win2k machines and we have _no_ priviligues. well... i\'m going mad about sitting in front of a pc where i cant even change the resolution of the monitor. http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />
i heard of a linux program which can change user passwords even on ntfs partitions from a bootable disk. actually i\'ve got a knoppix bootable linux cd, so thats not the main problem. i just wanna kill some processes and get some more rights, because being observed with a damn tool called mastereye sucks. http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

thx guys...

I had that app on a pc once that wasnt mine...sux\'d. However i only used it 3 times...so all i did was change the resolution from 800x600 to 1024x768 using notepad. I couldnt even open a run dialoge so i opened up ms word, then went to open, (you can do this other ways aswell), when it opened the window to select a file i just typed in c:winnt, hit open, then choose to display all files, looked around in there and sub dir\'s,  and edited the damn file. Im sorry i cant remember the file name but it\'s not secret to which one (maybe desktop.ini...cant remember). Anyhow you can edit it with notepad. I had to reboot the machine though. Which sux\'d because when i did it required a password to logon. So the admin or whoever she was typed in the password and log\'d it on. But fortunately she didnt realize the resolution had changed.

As far as more than that i dont know. But im sure you could do the same thing to alot of things aslong as you know what file it is and know its not encrypted. (actuallly there is tools out there that are not legal as far as i know...but can decrypt those file\'s aswell)

There is reason why the computer are locked: dumb people can damage or delete files that can make the computer crash, or even worse, if they get \"super rights\" they can f*ck the network, wouldn\'t be easier to ask the adm to change the resolution on that monitor?

If the school is small, you mite try asking the Network admin
for a power users account with a bit more control over the
desk top,  (S)he may let you have more control !
Maybe ask for a roaming account also,
this account will follow you as you logon to the network !
Your going to have to prove you need this kind of account
if you get it, so be smart Turbo !
