Network connection icon "locked" in XP
« on: February 12, 2009, 09:19:46 PM »
I have an XP machine, and it is working mostly fine, but suddenly under Start/ControlPanel/network Connections there is an icon for my NIC and also a "Gateway" icon. Neither of them can be deleted, and the network icon has a little "lock" on it. I ahve NO IDEA where this came from. I use a single PC on a cable modem and I am not a "gateway" for any other computer. I have tried everything I can think of and can't make this "gateway" icon go away or delete it and get back to "kust me on the network" like it used to be. Can anyone explain this "gateway" thing and why it cannot be removed?
