Enable System Restore using Unattended
« on: January 08, 2003, 11:00:33 PM »
Windows Media Player 9 Seems to be poping up a message that system restore is not enabled during the setup. This even happens when using the quiet mode switch \"/Q\" or \"/Q:A\".
If I incorperate this into my unattended install of XP I have to stop this message box from popping up. The only way I have been able to get this to install silently is to enable System Restore.
How do I do this using the unattended? Are their only certain parts of the Key I need or can I just export the it all from System Restore in the registry and use a batch file to import it back into the fresh install? After Enabling System restore I find this in the registry.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionSystemRestore]
\"DisableSR\"=dword:00000000
\"CreateFirstRunRp\"=dword:00000001
\"DSMin\"=dword:000000c8
\"DSMax\"=dword:00000190
\"RPSessionInterval\"=dword:00000000
\"RPGlobalInterval\"=dword:00015180
\"RPLifeInterval\"=dword:0076a700
\"CompressionBurst\"=dword:0000003c
\"TimerInterval\"=dword:00000078
\"DiskPercent\"=dword:0000000c
\"ThawInterval\"=dword:00000384
\"RestoreDiskSpaceError\"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionSystemRestoreCfg]
\"DiskPercent\"=dword:0000000c
\"MachineGuid\"=\"{9BB4D4D6-471C-4CEF-82D8-093DBB39D562}\"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionSystemRestoreSnapshotCallbacks]
@=\"\"

Take note of this part of the key:
\"DisableSR\"=dword:00000000

My thinking is I need this. But all the Unattended help file from MS says is that I need this:

CheckpointCalendarFrequency
CheckpointSessionFrequency
MaximumDataStorePercentOfDisk
RestorePointLife

There is no mention of the DisableSR.

Also can someone show me an example of a batch file that would acually import the keys needed to do this -OR- is there another way around the warning box in Media Player 9.
