Hard drive problem
« on: January 07, 2010, 07:18:32 AM »
My friend recently purchased an USB hard drive dock and a Hitachi 1TB SATA 3.0 hard drive. When he plugs in the hard drive, it doesn't show up in his computer. But, under computer management it shows up as unallocated. Can't figure out whats the problem. Wondering what I do to make it work properly. If you have any ideas and tips, please pass on.

Thanks..

Within computer management you will want to select your Harddrive, and right click on it and partition and Format the drive before use

here's some more info

If  you can not see your usb external hard drive then you can check first  of all that you can connect the hard disk with deifferent usb port.  And then you can try to open usb hard disk then if you can not open  usb hard disk then you can format the hard disk in command prompt and  then try to open that.
