Mandrake Compatibility

I am going to put together a new computer to run as a server/games machine.

Is there and makes i should stay away from to ensure full compatibility?

I was thinking about a athalon xp 1800+ 512meg 333mhz DDR Ram
Geforce based graphics
soundblaster live 5.1 oem
MSI or asus motherboard
80 gig 7200 ata 133 HDD
LG 16x DVD Rom
LG 48X CDRW

Do you think there will be any problems or is mandrake ok with most hardware?

Should be fine.  I'm running a similar config now.

I haven't tried a 3d game yet, but the nvidia drivers are installed and working.  Likewise haven't really tried the ATI TV Wonder but it worked in 8.2, it should work now too.  No problems to speak of.

BTW I did get a chance to try out Serious Sam on this machine and it worked fine.  A few glitches in the video but the game was never officially ported to linux, so can't expect it to be 100%.  Also tried the ATI TV-Wonder, colors are kinda washed out when using coaxial in, but using composite or svideo in it looks great.  It's a known problem that has a few possible fixes but I'm not worrying about it until my media box is built (another Athlon XP TB, nforce chipset, two tuner cards, matrox g400 dh for tv-out capabilities, etc.).
