win2k setup problem
« on: August 12, 2003, 05:10:01 AM »
i am upgrading a computer to win2000, and after restarting, when it runs through the setup, it says the cdrom isnt there. and asks me to check the scsi is plugged in correctly. cd rom is working fine.
hitting f6 to configur it, setup asks for a "manufacturer supplied hardware support disk". there was none, but i compied the driver onto a disk and tried that, but setup wants txtsetup.oem.
i noticed a similar problem, but i am nowhere near proficient enough to adapt that solution to this, let alone understand it.
the cdrom is made by btc, it is a cd-rw. model:bce 1610IM
i looked on btc's site but that was no help either.

any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks

thanks for looking,
i have since discovered that there might be a malfunction with the scsi connection to the motherboard. not sure though. regardless, have got it to work by slaving the cd drive off the harddrive.
cheers anyway
