I feel silly asking this but here it goes. I’m going to set up a networked printer-copier tomorrow. One computer is in building 1 and has a router with access to the Internet, and the other computer is in building 2.
The computer in building 2 only has one RJ45 outlet in the wall connecting it to the other computer through the router. The printer-copier is going to be in building 2 and have a NIC card it needs another router to connect it to the network.
Now for the dumb question. The gateway for router 1 in building 1 is 192.168.1.1 The other router I’m installing tomorrow in building 2 is going to have a gateway of 192.168.1.2 The printer-copier is 192.168.1.6 All these addresses are static.
When I put these two gateways into computer 2, in what order should they be so that computer 2 can access computer1? And Vic versa for computer 1 to access computer 2 as well as having access to the printer copier?
Both of the computer are XP Pro.
I hope that this makes sense…
Lance.
