This message pops up when it is tryin to retrive mt settings at log in

I think this is what happened. my harddieve had been strugling, like trying to read a bad sector. then my computer restart and scan disk found that bad sector and the bad sector was my registry for one of my log in accounts, and it \"fixed\" the bad sector by doing what ever it does and delted my user. does this sound right?
Can I fix this? or do i have to reinstall because i can only log in as a guest.
