I need help..........I have a machine with Windows 2000 Prof. on it, and a machine with Windows 98 on it. I would like to set them up in a server/client enviorment, with the Wind. 2000 machine being the server. I have a \"D-Link\" Gigabit Over Copper Switch, a Gigabit Over Copper NIC, and a regualr 10/100 NIC. I have installed the Gigabit NIC on the Windows 2000 Machine, and the regular NIC on the \'98 machine. Also, I also have an internet gateway that shares a cable modem. My questions are: I have conected the gigabit NIC to the 10000Mbps port, the internet gateway to the \"Uplink\" port, and the regular NIC to port #1......Is this correct so far? Also..........How do I configure Win. 2000 for a client/server..NOT Peer-to-Peer (I want the client to only read, not write any information, as well as share internet).....Thank you for your time and effort in helping me

First, you can have peer-to-peer, and only be able to read info, not write.  In the sharing options, don\'t give full control.  Only allow read permisisons.

The connection looks ok far as I can tell (if I understand it correctly).
