What is the Sex Miracle Virus and Backdoor.Agent.B
« on: August 17, 2004, 10:07:23 PM »
Hi all. I have two separate problems which i would like to ask you?
If you can help with either it would be greatly appreciated.

Problem 1:

When i open my Internet Explorer, a program tieled Sex Miracle is placed on my desktop. My homepage gets changed to C:\WINDOWS\System32\IEsp.mht, and i an unable to go to a different site.

Also, sometimes, every internet window i have open is closed by something, and on occasions, i am disconnected from my Internet connection and am unable to reconnect, untill i restart my computer.

I also seem to have a pop up which directs me to Casino Palazzo.

Problem 2:
This has been going on for ages, before the virus above started on my system.

When i open any program, and i mean any program, my Norton picks up Backdoor.Agent.B

this comes up

Scan type:  Realtime Protection Scan
Event:  Virus Found!
Virus name: Backdoor.Agent.B
File:  C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\KBDOPD.DLL
Location:  C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32
Computer:  Billy
User:  Billy
Action taken:  Clean failed : Quarantine failed : Access denied
Date found: Wed Aug 18 13:26:18 2004

I have followed the instructions of the Symnetec site to remove it, but the files they state to click on are no where to be found.

Please anyone who can help me with these 2 problems, tell me what to do.

It's probably best if you post a hijackthis log, let's see what's hiding in the wings
Important---Create a permanent folder hijackthis
EG----C:\HJT---this is where you will want to save Hijackthis too, also, backups will be stored there.
download Hijackthis from
HERE or HERE
Choose Save to disk , not Open

Do a SCAN----Scan will change to SAVE LOG----copy and paste the WHOLE contents of the log
here... Don't try and fix anything yet----It is all important

Make sure you are using the latest version of Ad-Aware
which is SE Personal 1.04
If not uninstall your version and download and install the latest
from HERE

After installation---CHECK FOR UPDATES
Do a Full System Scan -- Remove ALL Critical objects
RESTART your computer

Another great Spyware Remover is Spybot S&D 1.3
After Installation---SEARCH FOR UPDATES
Check for Problems----Fix Everything in RED
Again RESTART your computer

Post back with a Fresh Hijackthis log afterwards
