Do you want to Disable Windows Messenger service or do you want to Uninstall
MSN Messenger?
There a couple different characters
I'll post back both ways after I look at your final hijackthis log

To disable Windows Messenger service, you should do this anyways
Go to START>>>RUN>>>type in services.msc and hit Enter

In the Window on the right scroll down until you see Messenger service
Double click on it--- STOP the service--
In the drop down menu, change the startup type to Disabled

You can do this for the Alerter service as well

To Remove MSN Messenger from your computer
Shut it down in the system tray by the clock and then use one of 2 methods described in the link supplied---If you use the long string in the Start>>>Run open field and get an error afterwards, don't worry about it , just restart your computer and MSN Messenger should be gone
You can copy and paste the bold from the link into Start>>Run, but it may be best to close your browser before hitting the Enter key

Hope this helps
