As for CWShredder, yea I ran it and let it fix all the problems. Just to be safe I just reran it, and no problems were found. Found a few new problems though. First, my recycle bin doesnt seem to be working. Files have been deleted, yet do not show up. Not a big deal but I thought I would bring it up. Second, I am getting lots of error messages when I start up. I'm assuming I can attribute this to the fact that I had hid so many problems my MSConfig? Thanks for all your help and feel free to take your time. I can tell this is a long and arduous process so really thanks for all the help.

Okay, let's see what we can find

Download this tool that will look for hidden files
Findit.zip
Unzip it to the Desktop

Run the Find.bat
Let if finish the scan---even if you see File not found

Post back the log back here when it's done

Could you also Download DLLCompare

Start the Program and click the Run Locate.com
Default settings should work---C:\Windows\System32 directory
Let it complete the SCAN, which won't take long

Click the Compare button to start the next process. This will take a bit longer.
Make a log of what was found and post it back here

Also post back a fresh hijackthis log and let me know what errors your getting on startup

Recycle Bin problem, try this
Start->Run, type cmd and hit Enter
At the prompt, type the following:

cd\ [hit enter] <--on the keyboard
cd Recycler [Enter]
Del Desktop.ini [Enter]

REBOOT and try deleting a test blank file

If it's not fixed
Download the following reg file:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits...erecyclebin.reg

Save the download and double click to run.
Answer yes to reg merge prompt.
Reboot and test with blank file to see if fixed.

If not....

3.) Go to a Command Prompt

At the prompt, type the following:

cd\ [hit enter]
cd Recycler [Enter]
attrib -h info*.* [Enter]
Del info*.* [enter]

Then test if it's fixed.

If not,

4.) go back to a command prompt and type:

cd\ [hit enter]
attrib -h -s c:\recycler [Enter]
del c:\recycler [enter]

Reboot and test again with blank file.

As for the recycle bin, the last choice ended up working, but it couldnt find the file UE32.exe. I did a search for it and found it in the Norton folder. Is there anyway to make my recycle bin independent from Norton? Thanks.

Download Pocket Killbox from here:
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip
Unzip the files to the folder of your choice.

Disconnect from the Internet completely
Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it

click on Tools->Delete Temp Files

When that finishes, copy and paste each of the following lines into the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox, and click the red button with the white X on it after each. Keep track of any files it tells you either could not be found or could not be deleted, as you'll need those in a minute:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\bpowseui.dll

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\btotvid.dll

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ceypt32.dll

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\i8nm0i~1.dll

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ktj0l7~1.dll

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\m0jula~1.dll

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\tholhelp.dll

For the files that it either couldn't find or couldn't delete, run killbox again, but this time, put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot". Copy and paste each file into the file name box, then click the red button with the X after each. It will ask you if you want to reboot each time you click it, answer "No" until after you've pasted the last file name, at which time you should answer "Yes".

Back in Windows Post a Fresh hijackthis log
DLLCompare log and Findit.bat log

Not sure about Nortons Recycle bin
Right click on the recycle bin icon and check out the options

We still have to figure out your Windows update
You need to get need Securiy patches on your computer
I'll try to track down what is causing your problem later with that
Try visiting Windows update again and see if you can install IE Sp1

Everything is looking good except for one running process that I see

Go to this link---Give it time to load
http://virusscan.jotti.dhs.org/
Use the browse button and Navigate to this file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wcrkaw.exe
Right click on it and Select it and then Submit it, wait for the results
Can you post the scanner results back here please

Before you post back the results
If the file is found bad

Have Killbox delete it on Reboot,
After your back in Windows make sure the file is gone

Also, if I haven't asked you to do this yet
You should install these 2 apps., they add extra security while
silently protecting you, without running in the background

SpywareBlaster by JavaCool---will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies
Install---Check for Updates---Enable all protection

IE-Spyad---IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
Here is a tutorial and download link

Scroll down and click on IE-SPYAD.EXE Free!

With both, Check for updates every couple of weeks

Hmmm...couple things. Number one--that file wasnt existant in the folder you specified...somewhere else it might be? Second, I mostly use Firefox, so is it worth it to download that  Plus, I have tried that whole take control of the folder, but it always comes up with the error "You dont have the privledges to access this folder." Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

Sorry Jeff, I forgot about you, been busy

Can you look in your Add/Remove Programs
If you have Hotbar installed, can you remove it please

Can you also update Hijackthis to a newer version that just came out
Open Hijackthis>>Config>Misc Tools>>Check for updates online

Post back with a new Hijackthis log
could you also generate a startup list with hijackthis and post the log
Open Misc tools
Check List all minor sections and list empty sections
and then click Generate Startup list

and one more Findit.bat log, thanks

I'll check back later, on my way out

I want to check out a few files on that malware scan on your computer
Ensure your set to show Hidden files and folders

Go to this link---Give it time to load
http://virusscan.jotti.dhs.org/
Use the browse button and Navigate to the  files below

Right click on it and Select it and then Submit it, wait for the results
Can you post the just the scanner results back here please

C:\WINDOWS\System32\hawquh.exe <--file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\zllictbl.dat <--file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\kyf.dat <--file

Also try running one or two of these thru if you can find them
C:\WINDOWS\System32\fiz20
fiz19
fiz18

Could you also go to START>>Run>>type in services.msc and hit Enter or OK
In the new, on the right hand side look for these services
xadx
ZESOFT
Power Manager

If you find them, double click on them and Stop the service if running and set to Disabled in the drop down menu
Let me know if you find them

Could you also make  sure that these  files don't  exist, it shows they're gone
If you find them try deleting them
C:\WINDOWS\gocfcp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\zeta.exe
C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe <--this file, be careful, there are legitimate svchost.exe in the System32 folder, just look for the one in the Windows folder
As I said, it shows it's gone, but just take a look for it

Download the Registry Search Tool here:
Scroll down a bit on that page

http://www.billsway.com/vbspage/

Unzip it and run RgSrch.vbs---Let this run . If your antivirus interferres you may have to disable script blocking in the antivirus. Copy and Paste the following in the search box:

hawquh.exe

wcrkaw.exe

e6eb373e-f471-43fb-bf9c-a734456b01e4

On each one let it finish scanning, should take no more than 10 seconds
Copy and paste the results back here

In services.msc I was able to find:

xadx

Power Manager

and disabled all three. (They were said to be "Stopped" at the time.)

I was also unable to find any of the following three files:

C:\WINDOWS\gocfcp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\zeta.exe
C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe

Finally, here are the three logs for the files (I have not closed WordPad on any of the three because it says it will delete the file if I do. Let me know if its ok to do this, Thanks!):

Just a couple more things Jeff, and please don't let your computer Restart until after we have tried these fixes

Could you download Runkey.zip

Unzip it and then doubleclick on RunKey2.bat. It will produce a All.txt file. Please copy and paste that here.

Also download this copy of Goologic.zip
Goologic.zip
Unzip it and open the Goologic folder and run the goologic.bat>>>This may take a few minutes, let it run
Post back just the Log.txt

With windows set to show Hidden Files and folders
Can you do a search in the System32 folder
*.dat

When you get the list, find one recently created. Right click on it, open in Notepad and look for this in the first line of the file:
This program cannot be run in DOS mode.
May be a trojan in disguise
Post back the name of the .dat file if you find it

Please open up Notepad and save these instructions onto your desktop for easy access----stay completely disconnected from the Internet
until all of these fixes are done

But first: Open Up Killbox>>>then click ABOUT
If your not using version 2.0.0.76

Please redownload the newest version from the link below and unzip to a folder of your choice  http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip

Please RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE

Access your Add/Remove Programs and remove N-Case or 180 Solutions if found
Stay in safe mode

Open KillBox and select the "Replace on Reboot" option.

Copy and Paste this entry to the "Full Path of File to Delete" box:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\hawquh.exe

When you select "Replace on Reboot", the "Use Dummy" option will highlight.
Click the "Use Dummy" option.

Click the red circle with the white X.
When the confirmation message appears, you will need to click Yes.

A second message will ask to Reboot now? You will need to click No.

Then Copy and past this entry to the "Full Path of File to Delete" box:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\appsys.exe

Again, click the red circle with the white X.
When the confirmation message appears, you will need to click Yes.

A second message will ask to Reboot now? You will need to click No.

Continue the same steps for these files:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\cqopuc.dll

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\enpare.dll

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\pkbvup.dat

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\wcrkaw.exe

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\hitngh.exe

On the last file pasted, when asked to Reboot, click Yes

Before you click yes Make sure you go back into msconfig and take the check out of Safeboot if you went that option to start in Safe Mode and put a check in Normal Startup
If you just tapped F8 on startup, don't worry about it.
Also, before you click yes ensure all other windows are closed down

Reboot back to Normal mode

Look for these folders and let me know if they exist
C:\Program Files\NCase
C:\Program Files\180 Solutions

Post back a fresh hijackthis log and a Findit.bat
Hopefully we'll just need some final cleanup
