I\'m booting with the Windows 2000 CD to use the recovery console, because 2000 stopped working. I need to get some data off before I rebuild, and the RC has limited functions so it can\'t copy the files I need. Does anyone know a way to fix this? Thanks.

First, in recovery console, run these three commands:

chkdsk /p
fixmbr
fixboot

See if that gets you back in ok. If not, then you need to put your hard drive in another computer and copy the files to the other PC\'s drive. If you formatted your drive with NTFS, you will need either a PC with WinNT4/Win2k on it, or standard Windows 9x with the freeware NTFS driver (freeware driver gives read-only access, but that\'s all you need).

That didn\'t work. I really think I need to copy the files because it BSOD every time I boot. If you have any other ideas. I\'d like to hear them.

The four floppies are ment to get u started on your instal.

They do exactly the same thing as a normal instal.

Use them if u do not have a bootable Win2k cd, or any other kind of problem..

Dont suppose anyone would know a way to make a win2k bootable cd that willl boot streight into recovery console, or at least have the option to, with minimal files?

The instructions on the site say to use CDRWIN 3.8b. I tried using 4 and got error messages. Anyone know where I can still find 3.8b?

Hello all,

I tried CD-R win, it works perfectly but crackers beware: CD-R win IS well protected. If you apply a crack on it, it will behave as if evething\'s fine, but it won\'t.

I burned my W2K slipstreamed CD with a regular CD-R win 4. and with the same one, cracked.

Guess what? The cracked one didn\'t work, the non-cracked worked perfectly.

So don\'t look for CD-R win 3.8, the fourth version is perfect as long as you don\'t crack it...

That is not really the fact....i got cdrwin 4a cracked and it works perfectly...i have heard that before about cdrwin...i guess it depends on what version and crack you use...i use the keymaker of course...seems though the best version of cdrwin i have had yet was 3.7

Keymakers.....shady???na....im sure goldenhawk technology use\'s them to make serial#\'s for there customers.

Keygens (the kind we\'re talking about here) are to the best of my knowledge illegal. Providing links to them here is against the rules. Just talking about them, is a gray area. As long as I don\'t think it\'s getting out of hand, it\'s ok.

If you wana find out more on creating bootable CD\'s lookup eltorito (or somting like that), I dont know of any way to create a bootable cd other than creating a boot floppy and then using ezcd or some other cd burning sw to create .. maybe u can create an iso image of the win2kcd then modify the image .. duno, the method i prefer is to create a floppy with the winnt.sif file and boot the nt2k cd then shuv the floppy disk in, that works

how do you get your drivers to install jap....do you know how to update the registery with the deployment tools??or even copy over .exe\'s...because ive tried with no success..i have made the .sif file manually and got it to do everything for me...but not copy files over...someone said you can modify the layount.inf file but how to do that i have no idea....and how do i collect the drivers for my devices???besides the .exe\'s that they come with off the cd or web i just want the bare drivers and nothing else...no pretty graphics during installation or anything
