I've been Hijacked plz help!
« on: June 06, 2005, 02:39:16 AM »
I'm in a pickle here, I have 2 computers and 1 of them has been hijacked.  I get this background image over my desktop that reads "Warning! You may have Spyware"  I can't understand how to fix it but i've read some other similar posts so i decided to give it a try.  I also seem to have some more issues though, it seems for some reason I can no longer access my network and communicate with my other computer and I can't access the internet because the internet is on the network.  I would have reformatted my hard drive but it won't let me it tells me i have a window that is currently browsing the contents of the hard drive, and i can't even access SETUP when i first turn on the computer.

Here is the hijackthis log:

I downloaded both, adaware se personal found about 500 critical items and i removed them.  Spybot won't work because it requires me to update and the computer won't connect to the internet for some reason.  Even though i ran adaware i don't see any improvement.  I still have the black background with the warning sign, that has taken over my desktop, and i have an enormous amount of slow down still.  Anyone else have any tips for me?

Hi WuTangTurtle. I can't make it to the forum as much as I want lately
But let's try what we can right now, I'll look back in when I have the chance

Can you do me a favor please
I'll assume your running Windows XP, you cut off the top of your Hijackthis log
Download and transfer  to the computer that has no Internet connection
WinsockfixXP
Save this too a folder on the infected computer please
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4372.html

Run the fix with all other windows closed and then let the computer restart afterwards
Or restart manually

Back in Windows
Access your Add/Remove programs and remove if found
Security IGuard
Virtual Maid
Search Maid
WinTools

Restart your computer again if anything remove, let me know what you removed

If you can now access the Internet
I advise you to download and Install a more secure browser until we have you clean
and you may want to hold onto this
Download and Install Mozilla Firefox and communicate with this browser until your clean
http://www.mozilla.org/
Click the Free download near the top left

I need to see a new Hijackthis log
Can I have you redownload it from my signature below and save it too a permanent folder please
Don't save or unzip it to your temp folder
Run another scan and post a fresh log
Please post the whole log, including the top header, which include Hijackthis version and operating system

ran winsockxpfix and it helped sorta.  It now lets my uninfected pc go online through the network instead of just a straight connection.  My infected pc still can't go online but when i try to set up a network i am able to see my other computer although for some reason i can't access it, yet at the same time my uninfected pc doesn't even notice the infected pc.  On top of that my xbox can't connect due to dns problems.

When i went into add/remove i deleted wintools and browserhelper, oh and i found something called coverimage1280 which i think i was using for an interactive desktop months ago it was for Tales of Symphonia.  I could be wrong though because seconds after i deleted it the black background with the warning thing was gone, or it could have been one of the other things i deleted.

Here is my fresh Log:

I'm a little confused
Is this the log from the infected computer or Uninfected computer?
Because this computer is still infected

Can I have you do the following please
==Download RKFiles.zip from the link
http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip
UNZIP the contents to it's own folder

Set Windows to show Hidden files and folders
* Click Start.
    * Open My Computer.
    * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    * Select the View Tab.
    * Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
    * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    * Uncheck the Hide Extensions for known file types
    * Click Yes to confirm.
    * Click OK.

RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE

Open the folder you unzipped rkfiles.zip too
Double click to run Rkfiles.bat
Wait for the scan to finish, give this time
When it's done a log will be produced, save this log

Restart back to Normal mode

Open Hijackthis>>Open Misc tools section>>Open Uninstall manager
Click the SAVE LIST button
Save the list to desktop and copy and paste the contents back here

I've been Hijacked plz help!
« Reply #7 on: June 15, 2005, 11:25:32 PM »
Can you do the following please

I need you too download a couple tools
==Download and then Install
Ewido Trojan Scanner

When installing, under "Additional Options" Uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We'll fix that later
Since you have no Internet access with the infected computer
Also go to this link
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/
Download the FULL DATABASE
Transfer to the other computer
Don't install this until you have Ewido installed on the machine
After it's updated, close it out, we'll need it later

====Download and Install this small program
to help clean your temp folders,cookies, etc...
Windows Cleanup
Give the link time to load or try it twice, it may be busy
Alternate Download link
We'll need this later

==Download and Unzip   The Hoster  to a folder

==Download the Killbox by Option^Explicit. *In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
* Save it to your desktop or a folder

==Please Save these instructions below to a Notepad file and save it to the infected computers desktop or a folder

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following programs, if found:

FlashTrack Uninstall
FTapp (remove only)
Viewpoint Manager (Remove Only)
Viewpoint Media Player
WildTangent Web Driver

Exit Add/Remove Programs.

* Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
* Select "Delete on Reboot".

* Open the Notepad file where you saved the instructions and copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing
 CTRL + C

Killbox file paths to copy to clipboard between dotted lines
