Didn't work http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':(\' /> Here's exactly what I did ==>

1. Extracted the contents of deploy.cab from my Windows XP CD to a folder on my hard drive using WinZip
2. Double-clicked the file \"setupmgr.exe\" from that folder on my hard drive
3. Selected \"Create a new answer file\" and clicked Next
4. Selected \"Windows Unattended Installation\" and clicked Next
5. Selected \"Windows XP Professional\" and clicked Next
6. Selected \"Provide Defaults\" and clicked Next
7. Selected \"No, this answer file will be used to install from a CD\" and clicked Next
8. Kept on clicking Next until it took me to the \"Providing the Product Key\" screen, and I entered my product key and clicked Next
9. Kept on clicking Next until it took me to the last screen, and I clicked Finish and saved the unattend.txt file to my desktop
10. Double-clicked the \"My Computer\" icon on my desktop, clicked on tools>>folder options>>view and made sure the box that said \"hide extensions for known filetypes\" was unchecked
11. Renamed \"unattend.txt\" to \"winnt.sif\"
12. Right-clicked winnt.sif and select \"cut\"
13. Double-clicked on the Windows XP folder on my desktop (where the contents of my Windows XP CD are located) and double-clicked the i386 folder
14. Pasted winnt.sif and selected \"Yes\" when prompted if I wanted to replace the existing file
15. Opened up Nero and burned a new Data CD which contains the files of the Windows XP folder (on my desktop)
16. After the CD was finished burning, I double-clicked setup.exe (on the CD I just made), then clicked \"Install Windows XP\", selected \"Upgrade (Recommended)\" as the installation type and clicked Next, selected \"I accept this agreement\" and clicked Next, and the next screen of the Windows XP installation was the product key screen, and the product key field was left blank!!

Any suggestions are appreciated

9. Kept on clicking Next until it took me to the last screen, and I clicked Finish and saved the unattend.txt file to my desktop

heres Next:

11. don't Renamed \"unattend.txt\" just copy the file the name it or save it in your floppy as WINNT.SIF
12. Dont remove your floppy with the file WINNT.SIF and Dont remove the Windows XP setup CD.
13. Run the *.bat the one you save with \"unattended.txt\"

If you are using a Bootable CD, Put the floppy that have a file WINNT.sif then boot on cd it will automatically file the ProductKey. okie http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />

Creating an unattended installation of Windows 2000/XP/.NET

(I don't know if it works, but it is a good read)

Here is a pretty clearly written text on customizing your Windows installation. I learned alot from trial and error, the windows IT knowledge base, and forums like this one. Everyone was a newbie at one point, spread the info.
