C:\Windows\hosts <--delete this file, with no extension
If you have trouble deleting it right click on it and take the check out of Read Only
Then redo the instructions with Hijackthis to post the Host text file

I think I have the betterinternet adaware virus

download L2m9xfix HERE
Save it to the desktop and run it.  Extract the files, and then open the l2m9xfix folder you just created and run RunThis.bat.

A window will open, and your desktop will disappear, then reappear.  Please be patient until the batch says it is completed.

Then please restart your computer, and post a new HijackThis log as well as the entire text of the log.txt file which should be in the same folder as RunThis.bat.

I had to disable some of the startup items before, because you didn't want me to reboot, and with so much running it would lock me up.

Run Fixwareout again
When the system reboots and Hijackthis open

OK, I wasn't able to delete the dmzbn.exe file.. said access denied.. and couldn't find the other one. SoI did what you said anyway...

I did the initial fixwareut and HJT, then I rebooted and did it again after fixing the checked items... here is what came up...

hmm, interesting, i ran fixwareout again and this time no registry fix, but the DMDQK.EXE files appears again... and no HJT change from the last one i did... i'm gonna do one more fixwareout to see what comes up...

OK, ran fixwareout a 4th time and again it showed DMDQK.EXE so i went and deleted it. then i ran fixwareout again and got the report below and no more redirects! Finally!!!

Thank you so much! This was a really really tough one! Question, how can i prevent this from happening again? i have no idea how it happened! Thanks again! I hope i'm not jumping to conclusions, hopefully it's fixed, it seems like it!

If you haven't defragged the computer in some time, now would be a good time
I prefer to do this in safe mode
You may also want to run CCleaner one more time and clean those temp folders again

Does the Hosts file still look OK to you?

Yes there is protection we should add to your computer

*Install  SpywareBlaster 3.5.1 by JavaCool[/url]  

*Will block bad ActiveX Controls
*Block Malevolent cookies in Internet Explorer and Firefox
*Restrict actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer

After installation, Check for updates and then click the "Enable all protection"
Check for updates every couple of weeks
after every update just simply click the "enable protection on all unprotected items"
                   
*Keep up to date on Windows updates
This is 'Very Important' in keeping your system secure
In Internet Explorer>>Click on Tools*Windows Updates
At the site click the "Scan for updates"
Look under "Critical updates and Service packs"
You should install all SP's and Critical updates
Don't install them all at once, install the Service pack first or the bigger downloads  and then reboot if prompted
Keep revisiting until you have all Criticals installed

*Make sure your Anti-Virus software is always kept up to date and actively running in the background

*A Firewall is very important in the protection of your computer
This provides a line of defense against someone who might try to access your computer without your permission
If you need a free software firewall, I suggest you install one of the following

All have a free version, the ones easiest on resources would be the older version of Kerio I linked or Tiny
 Outpost and Sygates' is very easy to manage
I prefer Sygates'>>Note, If you go with Sygates', use version Sygate Personal Firewall 5.5.2525
The newer version had conflicts with Win98

Kerio is a little bit more hands on, if you don't want the fuss, go with Sygates or Outpost
I've never used Tiny's, but many say it's easy to use
Zone Alarm has a good reputation but probably hardest on resources

But please install one, you decide, remember only use ONE!
