I purchased Windows XP Professional. I have a home LAN with three computers. I use an old Pentium 120 for the server and the other two are AMD machines-A one GHz and a K6-2 500. I use the 1 Ghz, so naturally, I installed the new O/s on my machine. Well, my machine didn\'t like it, rather my video cam, USB port replicator, and HP scanner. Since, these items work just find with Win98SE, I decided to back out of the update on my computer and try it on the K6-2. That machine worked fine, but of course the Activation nightmare began. I had already activated when I installed it on the 1gig, so of course I couldn\'t activate it again. So, after two separate calls to Microsoft and swearing I\'m not using one copy of their precious software on two machines, they gave me another activation code (50 characters). I typed it in and everything’s okay. My bitch is, why this is all necessary? The corporate versions don\'t require activation, nor do most OEM installs on pre-assembled systems. This intrusion is just too much! After I pay for something, I shouldn\'t have to \"check-in\" with BigBrotherBill so I can use what I bought!!! Hope someone figures an easy \"activation\" patch so we users can forget Microsofts B.S.
