RUNDLL32.exe
« on: January 08, 2002, 06:15:03 AM »
Okay, firstly , what is RUNDLL32.exe?

Secondly, I\'m having trouble viewing MPEGs and DVDs on my pc. When I try to open an MPEG it takes a while ( I assume it\'s caching ), while waiting If try to end task and in the processes I can see this:  RUNDLL32.exe (not responding).

Has anyone experienced these problems? I can actually view MPEGs but they take up to 2 to 3 minutes on open, DVDs don\'t even work anymore.

As it shows \"rundll32.exe\" run a dll as an application .
Mpeg and dvd depends on your Video card\'s  quality and memory ,
Also if there are too much programs in memory (see taskmanager) and too few memory left so the os has to use virtual memory to make the program run , and if there\'s not much space left and the harddisk is too fragmented it has to look very long to find free space all over the harddisk .

The video card has been fine. Until a few weeks ago, it all was fine. The video card is good enough, I\'m just wondering whether or not this RUNDLL23 has anything to do with playing mpegs or dvds.

rundll32.exe starts dlls that  the application you use for playing  dvd or mpeg needs .If one of those dlls needed is defective then rundll32 will stop responding .Try reinstalling the application .
Good luck

All sorted.
It was the video card drivers.
A few weeks ago, I updated to the latest detonator drivers, and for some reason they didn\'t agree with my card.
So I re-installed the card with its original drivers and all is fine.

Thanks for your help.
