I would like to see 2 other logs please
Download the latest version of  SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the contents (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
By default, the log is located Here>>C:\Rapport.txt

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Also
Download this file - Combofix.exe and save it too desktop
Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Post the log from combofix please with the log from smitfraudfix

Could you also let me know if you have PestTrap in your add/remove programs
Did you pay for this or purposely install it?

I do have PestTrap in my add/remove list. I have removed it many times but when the Red circle pops up it reinstalls it http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' /> .  I did not pay for it nor install it on purpose by any means I was surfing the web and the red circle just popped up in my running apps. Maybe I misclicked a pop-up. I have went in safe mode to try to remove everything I could but it has not worked.

Can you do the following please

Download>>Install AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 from Ewido networks
 • Load AVG-antispyware and then click the Update tab at the top. Under Manual Update click Start update.
 • After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
 • Close AVG antispyware as we will need it later
Print the rest of these instructions or save them too a text file on desktop

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode. To boot into Safe Mode, please restart your computer. Tap F8 before Windows loads. Select Safe Mode on the top of the screen that appears.
Sign in with your normal user account

In safe mode, do the following

Find and delete these files, exact file names and locations please
C:\Documents and Settings\Zane\uwfgtncy.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\Zane\ykoqqmrx.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntsystem.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\Zane\uqgnabqc.exe

Look for the next one also, if it exists, remove it too
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntoskrnl.dll <-remember, exact file name, don't delete something because it looks similiar

* Clean your Cache and Cookies in IE:
 • Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > General tab
 • Click the "Delete Cookies" button
 • Next to it, Click the "Delete Files" button
 • When prompted, place a check in: "Delete all offline content", click OK
* Clean your Cache and Cookies in Firefox (In case you also have Firefox installed):
 • Go to Tools > Options.
 • Click Privacy in the menu on the left side of the Options window.
 • Click the Clear button located to the right of each option (History, Cookies, Cache).
 • Click OK to close the Options window

Alternatively, you can clear all information stored while browsing by clicking Clear All.
A confirmation dialog box will be shown before clearing the information.
* Clean other Temporary files + Recycle bin
 • Go to start > run and type:
cleanmgr and click ok.
 • Let it scan your system for files to remove.
 • Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
 • Press OK to remove them.
==Open the SmitfraudFix folder you extracted to desktop earlier
 • Double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
 • Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

 • You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

 • The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".
The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process.  A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process
I'll need to see these later, by default they are also saved at C:\rapport.txt
If a reboot was required, allow windows to load normally, than later reboot back to safe mode
If a reboot is not required, Remain in safe mode

AVG-Antispyware Scan
 • Load AVG and select the "Scanner" tab
 • Click the "Settings" tab and then change the recommended action to Quarantine and ensure that  Automatically generate report after every scan is selected
 • Click back to the "Scan" tab and then click on Complete System Scan.
 • Let this scan complete
 • AVG will list any infections found on the left hand side. When the scan has finished, it will automatically set the recommended action. Click the Apply all actions button. Ewido will display "All actions have been applied" on the right hand side.

 • Click on "Save Report", then "Save Report As".  This will create a text file.  Make sure you know where to find this file again (like on the Desktop).
Stay in safe mode, your controlling entries on startup with msconfig
I MUST see everything on startup without interference, We must remove the bad guys, not hide them!

Go to START>>RUN>>Type in
msconfig
Hit OK
Under the STARTUP tab>>Enable ALL.>>Apply it
Under the SERVICES tab>>Enable ALL>>Apply it
Under the GENERAL tab>>Select NORMAL startup
APPLY it and CLOSE

Allow the computer to Reboot to Normal windows

Can I see all the following please, even if it takes more than one reply to post everything

1. Post a fresh hijackthis log
2. Post the whole report from Avg Antispyware
3. Post the log from Smitfraudfix>>C:\Rapport.txt

EDIT>>Can you also do the following
Go to start > control panel > Display properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop... > Web tab
Uncheck and delete everything you find in there. (except for "My current home page")

We should update your version of Java to plug up some security exploits

Can you do the following
==Download the latest version of  Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9
 • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
 • Click the "Download" button to the right.
 • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
 • The page will refresh.
 • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation Multi-language
Save the file to your Desktop.
Don't install it yet

Open your Windows control panel>>Start>>control Panel
Ensure you are in Classic view
Double click to open the Java Icon>>Under the Cache tab select "Clear Cache"
OK any prompts

Access your Add/remove programs via Control Panel
Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE or Java 2 Runtime Environment.... )
eg..Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
They should have the following icon next to it:
Select it and click Remove on any of them

Afterwards

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = :0

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED

That's looking good, just an orphan entry to remove
If you haven't ran a scan with Spybot since your last updates, can you run one now and fix any Red entries if found

I see you have Viewpoint Media Player installed
Quote
Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval
If you didn't purposely install it, access your add/remove programs and remove it please

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {CF7C3CF0-4B15-11D1-ABED-709549C10000} - (no file)

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Reboot your computer

Find and delete this folder if Viewpoint was removed
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint <-folder

Post one last hijackthis log and let me know how things are running please
Let me know of any problems

Do you have any AntiVirus software to install?
I just noticed your not running with any protection from an AV
Do you need a free solution?
It's not safe being without proper protection well online

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

First off I would like to thank you very much for your prompt and right on the nail help.  I'm currently not having any more problems.  I do have a question though.  Is it ok to set my Startup apps back to the way I had them before so I can save ram for gaming?  I don't have any AV protection ATM.  I made my last few computers myself and I have never had a problem like this before.  If you have any AV protection that are free and are good programs that would be great.  What do I do with all these programs I downloaded to fix this problem toss or keep?  I removed the viewpoint using the add/remove program.  When I went into the program file the viewpoint folder was not there to remove.  The spybot only found 1 thing that it needed to repair. Once again thank you http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' /> .

The sister programs to AVG antispyware is AVG antivirus
I suggest that you install it
Here is the link
http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/
From that page click on Download Free version
On the new page select and save to desktop the installer under
AVG Free for Windows installation files

Double click on the installer and follow the prompts

optionally register, make backup disks
Update it and run a complete system scan, let it fix whatever it finds
Reboot the computer afterwards
Come back here and post one last hijackthis log

Are you still experiencing problems with disappearing CD rom in MyComputer
I looked at your other post

I'll let you know what you can keep and remove after you run AVG AntiVirus

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

Can you right click On the "MyComputer" icon
Left click "Properties"

Open the Hardware tab>>Device Manager
Expand(+) next to DVD/CD Rom Drives

Double click on your drive
Under Device Status, is there an error code?

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Thats all it says for both of them.

We now have a backup of that key

Can you do the following
Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad)
Hit OK
Copy the contents of the CODE box, not including the word "code"
Paste it to the empty Notepad file
In Notepad click FILE>>SAVE AS
IMPORTANT>>>Change the Save as Type to All Files.
Name the file as fix.reg

Save this file on the desktop
Ensure to copy from REGEDIT4 and down in the code box

Code: [Select]
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}]
"UpperFilters"=-
"LowerFilters"=-
"UpperFilters_1"=-

Double click on fix.reg and allow to add/merge to the registry at the prompt
Reboot your computer
Any luck with the CD/DVD's?
