« on: April 03, 2001, 04:22:04 AM »
I\'ve recently Tried to bypass the win2k serial number by modifing the Pid=51873XXX but mine has three zeros at the end. I tried it anyway but no success. I recieved an Error message and then it rebooted. Is there anyway around it. Like to inport the serial into a file somewhere, kinda like msbatch for Win98.

Mine had PID=12345OEM, so I guess the OEM makes the difference. I\'m not sure if you can exchange the file altogether from another version of if that corrupts your install... Replacing the OEM with 270 worked fine...

This is a snip of the winnt.sif file I created for unattended installations using the bootable W2K CD with SP1 slipstreamed into it.  I used this website, Bink Windows Boot CD site instructions, and many articles from Win2000mag.com -- also the unattend.doc instructions contained in the deployment tools directory of the W2K Resource Kit. The unattend.txt file is called winnt.sif and w2k automatically looks for it when it installs.  There is a Mark Minasi article on win2000mag website with a sample file, about the improved features of unattended installations in W2K. There are also examples in untattend.doc.
