Answers:

1: Yes

2: No

I find my self, for most of this thread, agreeing completely with JB Lee, which is not something I often do.

Though, I think, School should be ''mandatory'' because, if it was not, then we would be living in Anrchy, even more so than we are now, BUT clever people, like JB Lee who see School for what it really is, a waste of time and brain space (and for people like me who don't have much space to fill it's unbearable).

As for the history thing yes and no.... Allot of history is twisted... manipulated, to make it sound better or worse for a certain country, for example, in England Napoleon, we are taught, was a tyrant, the first communist. Whereas in France, I'm guessing, he is portrayed as a liberator and Wellington, the British General who finally defeated Bony and his Armies, is probably more the tyrant. (Just an example, doubtful it's true)

I don't go to School, haven't done for 4 (ish) years, this year, if I were to go to School I would preparing to take my GCSE's (Exams you take at 16 - I don't know the American equivalent) but instead I have 8 GCSE's under my belt and 2 A levels (Exams I should take when I'm 18), the others 3 I'm taking in June this year, then, next year (if I get good enough results), I'll be off to Uni to study Law and Politics....

Soo you CAN learn just as much, and a hell of allot more out of school (and technically less as I haven't done allot of the tedious shit that I'm never going to use in later life).

------------

There's three main groups of people:

People that fight authority because it's authority.

People that accept authority because it's authority.

And people that fight authority because it's wrong.

-------------

It's the latter group that School shouldn't be ''mandatory'' for... as they can still succeed even when they're not in School.

Though to succeed outside School you need 3 things: will power, a desire to succeed and brain power.

Which is why the other two groups couldn't ''survive'' outside of School really... BUT... I guess if School wasn't ''mandatory'' then there'd be more jobs, well paid jobs for the few educated people, going soo........

Oh and another note:

"u didnt do school long enough"

Shall we compare? Yes, lets... JB Lee runs a quite successful site, is looked up to by allot of people, is pretty clever and he gets that from LIVING in a chair.... what have you accomplished from going to school ''enough''? does it make you inheritently smarter? because you sit in a classroom for 6 hours a day? having ''facts'' drummed into you? you think showing you've wasted your life will help you get a job? whereas JB Lee can show that he can think for himself.... and what do you think the employer is looking for? the sheep (the follower) or the fox? I know who I'd choose if there was a herd of sheep there and one fox, I'd pick the one that stood out that showed they knew what they were doing...

and on that final note... you joined 7 days ago... you have 86 posts... you don't seem to be doing to well to become ''less of a spammer'' when your making STUPID comments when you don't know what the hell your talking about.

So please don't waste my time in replying to you again.

/end: agreeing with JB Lee

JB Lee you live in a chair! go outside! the sun will not melt you... I think...

HOLY CRAP! Aragost agreed with me!

well, theres a first for everything I guess...the lame-duck learns new tricks well http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />

----
Honestly, i don think there are many people that dont like me...

for the most part, i am nice to everyone...as long as they dont repeatedly break the rules or flame me...if some onn flames me, then i MIGHT flame back (usually dont)...

Most of the people that dont like me are either:

1) Mad because I wont do something for them which obviously shouldnt be done (banning someone just because they want me to)
2) Want to look cool by saying they dont like me and pretend to be better than me
3) Jealous
4) Joking

its not a consistant job unless you are hired by a company. if you just do freelance crap then one week youll be getting a lot of money sure. But then the next month there could be no work.

And im not going to go any further into this other then saying yes school is molding you into another worker bee for the hive, however most people need to be molded. If you indeed do see things for what they are really worth then you would see the world much differently.

Well I said No and yes, because I think that if it wasn't mandatory the people who didn't want to be there wouldn't.  Then teachers would be able to spend more time with students to help them learn the subject and not dedicating their time to trying to keep a few problem students under control.

I would still go, because school will give you the knowledge and skills necessary to get through life, no matter how you look at it.  JB Lee going to a crappy private school I can see why you would think that they were just being molded into what society thinks is acceptable.

going to school has nothing to do with learning, no matter what they tell you or you choose to believe

unless you count learning false information or learning how to be a government idealistic clone...

hippie... and yea, they definitley can't teach you math... you know because it definitley isn't solid fact or anything and history? never happened.  YOUR school has nothing to do with learning because from the sounds of it you didn't even have teachers and have never even gone to a real school...

My belief is this:

Yes, go to school.

Even though you want to become a professional baseball player and the normal schedule won't help with that, you will be better off with an education of knowing how to survive on your own than not.

Trust me, it's the little things you learn in school that make the difference.

i said no and yes...
its a persons choice if they want to learn or not and it shouldnt be forced upon people...
i would still go if it wasnt mandatory if they got rid of grades.... it would be a lot easier to learn things without having to stress out over keeping good grades
