IE Restarts

AUGH! IE on my computer has issues. I get the message "IE has stopped working" followed by "IE is restarting". Most people have told me it is a virus/spyware. I have ran a few virus/spyware programs and they find nothing. Sometimes the shutdown is random but I can duplicate the issue on two websites; ESPN>College Football>Scores>Gameplan and NASCAR>live leaderboard. Please let me know what I can do.....thanks.

Download Hijackthis Installer from [color=\"#FF0000\"]HERE[/color]
For an alternate download location, you can try HERE
SAVE it to your desktop
Double click on HJTInstall.exe to run it
Choose Install

Hijackthis v2.0.2 will open

Under Main Menu, Select
Do a system scan and save a Log file
A log will open in Notepad
Copy and Paste the Whole log back here to the forum----It is all important!

I'm just stepping out for a bit
In the meantime can you do the following
Please supply an uninstall list from Hijackthis
Open Hijackthis>>Open MISC TOOLS SECTION>>Open UNINSTALL MANAGER
Click the SAVE LIST... button
Save the list to your desktop then copy>>Paste back here the Whole contents

Note: Some users of Vista have been reporting IE7 problems with certain camera software installed
The above log might help track down
There may be an update to help remedy the situation

Could you also supply Exact make and model of your computer

I will try this evening. Normally, it is completely random or when I use ESPN Gamecast (Monday Night Football). Since I was able to duplicate the issue there, I thought it might be a java problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled java with no luck. Otherwise, I will be running the IE with no add-ons from now on to see if it happens again.

Will do. Yes, it is the free trial, 50 days left. I assumed it was running. It is set up for scheduled maintenance. Under "Virus/spyware monitoring" shows "on"...Under "firewall" shows "on". Not quite sure how to use it other than that.

Thanks for the info, I have to remember that the process list for Vista is a bit different than XP
So it looks fine

I just want to fix one entry in Hijackthis that looks like a leftover
Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [RunSpySweeperScheduleAtStartup] "C:\Windows\system32\msfeedssync.exe" /ScheduleSweep=User_Feed_Synchronization-{CF64B811-E16C-4A35-ADBB-8E5CDC98CEB2}


After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Reboot the computer

Later, after you have tried IE with no addons, if everything is fine
Let me know, also later post a fresh hijackthis log

No problems running IE without add-ons. I tried going to the websites that normally restart IE but they would not load due to me not using Flash Player add-on. Could this be the issue? Here is my new log....

Try running IE normally now, with addons enabled
Try enabling flash if you disabled it and see if everything is fine
If it is enabled, it may be another addon causing problems

By trial and error you will have to try and identify which one
In IE click on Tools>>Manager addons

Just to give you an update...I have narrowed the problem down to flash player. I uninstalled then reinstalled with no luck. I have searched adobe.com faqs with no luck. Any suggestions?
