System restore is suppose to be the same as the "repair" option. It restores all of Windows files. I did that though and now I'm starting to get a new error that says setup couldnt be started because the registry couldn't be updated and it tells me to contact my computer manafacturer, which I did, but she sent me the link to a GWSCAN 5.12 scan that I have to run from my desktop. But I can't because I can't get to my desktop. Maybe I just have a bad hard drive or something. It's only a little more than a year old I think. http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':(\' />

System restore is not the same as the "repair" option. It doesn't appear to be your hard drive. If you could repair it, then go ahead. That would most likely fix your problem.

Why can't you get to your desktop? What happens?
