sorry if i posted this in the wrong place i dont know under what category it would fal, anyways my laptop recently reported it had a S.M.A.R.T error and that the hdd would fail so i did some research and supposibly any SATA hdd will be compatible i have a toshiba satelite L45-S7423
my warranty is expired and they wanna charge me like $300 to install a new hdd my cousin can probably install everything i need into a new hdd but i wanna know if my laptop hdd is under the cd drive and also is it one of those simple to take out drives? and if i do get a new hdd can someone give me links to ones i can buy that my laptop will support i dont wanna open my laptop and just mess it up would any of these be ok? http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....ATA%203.0Gb%2fs please help >_< oh and also what would i need to do to the new hdd like what would i need to install on it?

bought mage pure from xxyoungxx for 90k meganewb mmed-all went smooth but that scammer kept harrassing me now hes a known scammer and is ip blocked hahaha



1.paid winx(not a girl) 160k for training  fishing to lv 60 i pk st00f mmed-successful (both turned out to be scammerz though)

                                               

2.trained noobhunters pure str from 60-67 for 300k and a d scimmy puppychow mmed-successful



3.bought sig from winx(not a girl) for 100k-succesful but i never found out how to put it on forum :(

 

4.bought lv36 pure from cullum. puppychow mmed---successful



SCAMMERS/SPAMMERS CAUGHT

 any scammer i catch i get em banned or suspended so don't need to worry bout em



1.puppychow-spammer hes a spammer and eventually turned into scammer

2.littleflyl-fake scammer don't trust if he adds notice his name has l at the end not 1 like the real littlefly

3.smoke-spammer,scammer

4.gmz13-took me 2-3 days but i finally got him scammer  

5.lee is here o6-scammer i never trusted that little queer big scammer

Have you made backups of any important documents>>files/folders?
If not, do it now

As much info i can find, your computer comes with 120 GB - Serial ATA-150 - 5400 rpm hard drive
And probably a generic drive
Normally 2.5" >> 9.5 mm
As indicated by the following link

Take in mind, Drive Solutions is recommending Sata 300 or 150
Yours is standard 150
I'm not sure if all laptop drives are backwards compatible
Sometimes just changing a Jumper pin will control the speed

You may think about going to a 7200rpm
Not sure if your planning to ghost your drive, or reinstall if you have the recovery disks
That is your option

As far as removing the Harddrive, I couldn't find a clear picture of your exact model
The closest I could find is the following link

Indicating 2 cover screws and 4 hard drive screws
Click on the pics to Enlarge them

NOTE: Ensure to unplug the laptop from power source and remove Battery before removing harddrive
