nero, win2000 and NOISE!
« on: December 14, 2002, 01:14:47 AM »
While trying to burn cds with nero and win2000, I get a popping noise out of left channel I have tried 2 different drives, and same problem. I currently have 2 hard drives on one ide and a dvdrom and cdwriter on the second ide. I have heard that I might be able to use cable select on one drive, and master on the other or some other setup. I also have a problem if I use the cdwriter as the master and dvd writer as the slave. The hdd indicator light will not go out! If I set up either drive alone as the master the light goes flickers like it should and also if I hook up the dvd player as the master. I also heard that I could Use the cdwriter as the master on the 2nd ide and the 2nd hard drive as the slave. Also i tried a new ide cable but still have the same problem. Any insite to any of this???

Try upgrading your motherboard\'s bios, also upgrade your chipset\'s .inf file (maybe via http://www.viaarena.com).

Defiantely try to upgrade.

However the drive conflict sounds like a general bios problem outside of bios version.

have you totally cleared out CMOS and reset everything?? Usually you should totally clear CMOS, boot to the bios, and let the bios auto-detect them. i even take the memory and cmos battery out when i clear cmos.

this is not a fact...this is only from my experience what seems to work...and has before
