Most C:\\WINDOWS\\System32 files gone!
« on: August 10, 2009, 06:53:32 PM »
Hey
in the past week i have had 3-4 viruses and they have been one pain in the butt!
Today i finally found away to get rid of all of them, after i got rid of the one blocking my antivirus system. I ran my antivirus and found many files infected. being stupid and not checking which files i would delete i deleted many C:\WINDOWS\System32 files. Once in a while a message pops up saying that i some files missing (Windows File Protection its called) and i need to put in my Windows XP disk 2 (I cannot remeber if i do or not).

Also i am running Windows XP if you have not figured it out yet.

Important things i cant run:
System restore (damit!!!)
Security Center
and many things like this

Any help at all would be very help full http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

This is kinda scewing up my computer 2 http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':(\' />

Sorry for the delay, I've been away
If you still need a hand, can you do the following please
Download Hijackthis Installer from HERE
For an alternate download location, you can try HERE
SAVE it to your desktop
Double click on HJTInstall.exe to run it
Choose Install

Hijackthis v2.0.2 will open

Under Main Menu, Select
Do a system scan and save a Log file
A log will open in Notepad
Copy and Paste the Whole log back here to the forum----It is all important!
