Rar to mpeg
« on: June 22, 2003, 04:09:07 PM »
I have done it once before, so I know I have the correct programs.  I've got 3 CD's all over 50 rar files, all about 15 megs each.   After I archive them together.. the total size is 25 megs.. this seems strange to me, but what do I know?  When I open Isobuster to try to extract the data.. it says it is invalid and asks me if I want it to keep looking.  It finds something... but what it finds is 2,800 gigs... yeah 2.8 terrabytes.  I shrug it off and try to extract them.. and all it does if fill up my hard drive with a 25 g file and stop... what is up?  Can anyone help?

My lord friend...do you even know what compression is??

Ok first off...your post is all too vague.

1st are you trying to browse the .rar's with isobuster...for the love of god i hope you not trying that.

2nd what you mean by archived all together they are 25mb??? what you doing here that made you post that?? you have contradicted yourself with something about 50 disks now saying 25mb...25mb for what??? 1 rar disk??

3rd have you ever used winrar or whatever form of rar your using before? If so what did you do the first time to get it to work...have you tried those steps already?

4th 3cds ...you mean 150 rar disks that are spread across 3 cds? If so you have to extract from the first one then change out the cds.

5th there is no way your using this for something legit...it has to be something bootleg you downloaded and are trying to figure out.

6th if you post back...post in ALOT GREATER detail on what is going on in your world in regards to this.

sincerely,
confused like no other time before,

Im assuming he figured it out and never will be back. There was no way he was doing something legit with .rar...not in that case.

It goes to show how lazy people can be...a simple search would of gave him the info he needed...however i dont think he is the type of person that can use a computer so he might not ever use a computer again :-).

btw did anybody understand what he was talking about??? it was waaaaaaaaay beyond me on what he was even trying to do. end's up with a 25mb disk??? using isobuster to open .rar's?? It all puzzled me.

It would be interesting to know what the hell he wanted to do though...i take that back :-)

Bootleg is I guess a good word for it, but I'll describe as best as possible what I am trying to do.

I downloaded a movie... it is separated into 3 folders CD1 2 and 3... this is how the file came.

Inside every file there are about 50-57 .rar files that are about 14megs each.  I want to turn them into a mpeg file.  I can deal with 3 separate mpegs.. but I can also put them all together right??

I have used winrar and isobuster before to make this project work.. but I really can't peice it together now.   I did take offense to the remark...

\"It goes to show how lazy people can be...a simple search would of gave him the info he needed...however i dont think he is the type of person that can use a computer so he might not ever use a computer again :-).\"  Yeah try to do a search anywhere for \"rar to mpeg\"  or even rar to bin... yeah the only thing that shows up is message boards.. and no one ever answered their questions either.  I kinda just gave up temporarily... that's why I wasn't replying.   And if you would have read my post you would have known I was contradicting myself when I said \"After I archive them together.. the total size is 25 megs.. this seems strange to me.\"  Basically, I'm running winxp.. and I select all the files and go to Archive files.. or add to archive cd1.... so I do that and it \"completes\" and is 25 megs...

So bunk all that... to go from 150 rar files to one mpeg.. what steps to I need to take?

Ok, I'm not sure what steps you've gone through, sounds like maybe you unrarred the files then rarred them back together?  Anyways just start from scratch.  Take the original rar files, unrar them, you should be left with one .cue and one .bin for each CD (so from what I understand, you will have three .cue files and three .bin files).  Now, once you have those .cue and .bin files, and ONLY then, you are ready to extract the mpg files then merge them into one large file.  Instructions are on this site, at www.thetechguide.com/howto/extractsvcd/.
