Thanks for your reply and your help!
   The screensaver she is using is the scrolling marquee that comes with win 2000 and is set to come on after 30 minutes. She works on this pc as well as a laptop supplied by her company and goes back and forth all day. So her pc is often idle for awhile in between uses. I will try what you suggested, but maybe idling the monitor after 30 minutes and turning off the screensaver. We'll see what that does. Thanks !!

I recently upgraded my wife's 1999 model 2714 IBM Aptiva to windows 2000 Pro from windows 98. I wiped the hard drive and went with a fresh install. Everything worked great for awhile, but recently she began to have a problem. If the pc has been left to sit for a few minutes and the screen saver is running, when she returns, as soon as she moves the mouse, any programs that are open will instantly be shut down. (ie. outlook express, internet explorer, ms word.) This is a very annoying problem as she works from home and frequently loses work from not having saved before she gets up and leaves. Any idea's for what might be causing this? I am at a loss for what to do. Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !
