at run type msconfig, check what are the files at startup.
remove the things that you think is not needed or the files when after you install which cause the system to boot very slowlly,
i find out that if you install via bus master ide software on via motherboard rather then using windows xp driver, it will slow your system boot up time,
try to restart in safe mode then check the time it need to come to windows, then maybe you can check what is the couse . my pc only takes about 35 seconds to come to windows from the time i push the start button,
