XP Booting Slower

I have a problem. For some reason XP is rather slow at booting on my system. I have checked other peoples PC\'s which are of a slower Spec and are running XP and they boot faster.

Now in terms of speed once the OS is loaded, mine is perfectly speedy and all but I cant figure out what could be causing the OS to boot slowly.

It was the same when I was running Windows 2000.

Any Idea\'s ?

try this idea. when u install the OS first install the chipset driver provided by the manufacturer and download the latest version. then download the ide driver accelerator.

it worked for me.

at run type msconfig, check what are the files at startup.
remove the things that you think is not needed or the files when after you install which cause the system to boot very slowlly,

i find out that if you install via bus master ide software on via motherboard rather then using windows xp driver, it will slow your system boot up time,

try to restart in safe mode then check the time it need to come to windows, then maybe you can check what is the couse . my pc only takes about 35 seconds to come to windows from the time i push the start button,

My sytem takes allmost two minutes before winxp is completely installed .
My scsi Ultra160 card takes about 30 sec,to start up . But what\'s the sense of making the os start up faster if you have a slow running system  .

The time you should measure for boot time is, the time it takes from the bios passing control over to windows to ether, windows fully loaded if you auto boot, or to the login screen if you don’t http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

I had this problem until I figured out that I had just upgraded my network card drivers. Apparently the company (Non-WinXP) drivers are set to wait for 30 or so seconds to search for a network before booting. WinXP drivers don\'t have this problem. Just uninstall / reinstall network card drivers, this time using the XP drivers.
