whats wrong with my HDD

I need urgent HELP!, my hard drive has just died it started with a loud (CLUNK,TICK) continues, is caused by the motor or will it be some other problem, I have a western digital 15.3GB which now not bieng picked up as a slave in BIOS is there any recovery tool that will help me recover the data, or any suggestions to temporerily get the HDD working so I can put the data onto CD's /all help would be appreciated THANK YOU. http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'B)\' />

put it in the freezer! Serious. Put your (dead) hard drive in your freezer for one night. Then prepare what you can (gather cd's or setup extra hard drive) in order to back up. Once your set (backup wise) go get your hard drive and install it, start up your system and get your data off it before it heats up and fails again.

This works 50% of the time so its worth a shot!
