Getting more RAM for an ancient system
« on: December 08, 2003, 07:06:51 PM »
Heya. I think I need more RAM for this old piece of crap (meaning this).

Tried looking around the 'net, ran some program that was supposed to tell me what exactly I need ("belarc" from the Crucial webshop), but was left clueless. It didn't say what  kind of memory I have or could get (just that slot 'DIMM 1' is empty and slot 'DIMM 2' has 64 MB). Searches by the motherboard (HP Brio BA System Board 1.01-R0B?) came up empty, as well as the documentation that came with the computer.

Extra memory would really help as this old thing keeps crashing and/or going nuts daily because I need to have lots of windows open.
Anohoo, is it a hopeless attempt to find something compatible with ancient junk like this? Especially without Ebay and living in a remote corner of Europe?

Cheers

Get a stick of 256MB PC100 RAM and no more if you are planning on keeping that system.

Its beyond showing its age but can still be worked with.
