Abit NF7-S & Maxtor 160GB SATA Issues
« on: December 26, 2003, 04:12:48 PM »
I really need your help guys. I'm on my second board as the first was DOA.
I've just done a new build and I've been trying to install Windows XP Pro from a bootable CD. Problem is it won't recognise my drive. When the installation screen pops up allowing me to press F6 to install SATA drivers, I do this and insert the floppy supplied and it continues but then I get the message no drives connected or does not recognise the drive or something like that. I've ran Powermax and get a 004 error code so I'm about to send the drive back under warranty.
Could it be something else though? I'm no expert but fairly competent with PC's. I've tried just about everything I can think of.

Hi
I have a problem with my Chaintech 7NJS Zenith Motherboard.
I want to intall WXP Professional on my new Maxtor SATA HD

(80GB).
I have setting in the bios menu like a 1st boot floppy, 2nd boot

CD-ROM, 3rd boot HDD-0, and I have install HD with utility

Matherboard (Auto setup, 1st option).
I have partition and format HD with maxtor recomanded software.
I followed the instruction on urer's guide at appendx at serial

ata/ide raid at step for (installing software driver during new

windows 2000 installation), but the installation of WXP stop and

say me an error:

file \WinXP\fasttx2k.sys have caused an unexpected error <18> at

line 2108 in d:\nt\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c.

I have put in the floppy only this file: txtsetup.oem 1.00.011

version and 1.00.0.13 version, but WXP installation show the

same error.
During the WXP installation I have select WinXP Promise fast

Trak 376 <tm> controller option.
I have another Maxtor ATA 133 HD with the same WXP alredy

installed that found new SATA HD with its partition.
I have only the installation problem because under WXP new SATA

HD is rigth.

Questions.
Are there anything else to put on the ploppy?
Are there new version of this files?
Can ypu send me something?
Do you have something tooltip?

I've a similar problem with same motherboard (chaintech 7njs ultra delux) and maxtor 120 go SATA.

I can tell you some information and hoping you find a solution :

myself I installed XP pro (at the beginning make F6 to install SATA drivers "fastrack 376") and normaly it's work.
Take care that your're SATA is connected to the up port (raid 0) and no to the second (which is down the mother board)
It's very important.

Try to change you sequency boot order in the bios (you can some different until it's works)

You're floppy drivers for SATA need programme (you fond them on Cd's 7njs)

At last (what i'm doing tomorrow) up date your motherboard.

good luck
