2nd Hardrive won't show in XP
« on: April 11, 2004, 03:44:05 AM »
I just finished upgrading my mobo and proc.  The system failed to boot and I was eventually directed to "repair" XP.  After that everything seems fine except my second Hard drive is not found by XP.  During BIOS set up I can see that both drives are there, just not in windows.  The drive does NOT show up in device manager either so no drive letter is even there.  Any suggestions on how to get this drive back up?  It contains data only, no OS info.  Jumpers are set up OK because they both worked fine before the changes.  Thanks for the help.

Right click “My Computer” in the start menu and select “Manage”.
Then select “Disk Management”.
Expand the window so you can see all the drives connected to your system and right click the drive in question.
Select “Change Drive Letter” and add the drive.
You can assign it any available drive letter you like.
Good luck!

unfortunately, it does not show up on Device Manager or Disk Management... no where in windows can you tell there is a 2nd drive.  Only in BIOS set up can the 2nd drive be seen.

Do you want to keep all of the data on the disk? or do you just want to fdisk and reformat it?
