Ok we purchased a used NEC 2003 with Windows XP Home on it. This
CPU was used as a networking cpu for a child of the family. We have tried everything to get our modem which is an external modem hooked to it and connect to the internet or fax messages won't work or connect / The only thing I can think of is that somehow we need to get out of the networking mode which, I can not do. All of our other cpu's are 98 so am not familiar with XP at all and so far don't like it. The modem has sound it dials and either we get an error message or the operator comes on and says the number you have dial is incorrect or you need to place your call again. NOW I am dialing a correct ph number.
This cpu has 3 usb ports two in the back one in the front. Front one doesn't work at all 2 back ones work but I have no clue as to which is like com1 and com2 or if this is even an issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
