Oh, and I forgot to The Tech Guide for running this post. I'm glad there are sites like this where we can share good information.

Keep up the good work TTG !

Just a heads up to all out there. They are at it again  under a new name. and web jack. www.topantispyware.com. Got the bugger on my PC at home. Using the info found here. was able to get it off,...I hope!. Found some reg links pointing to the desktop.html file under a mod called 0 in registery. I got rid of it to be safe. Just some points to let you know the mstask.dll  is part of windows  so don't burn that with the mstasks1-4 same for the system32.dll. Wish you all luck in getting rid of this beast.
You also might want to read this. It's where I started and it helped me to understand the problem.

Good luck all,
Jim Spokane,WA.
I went to the computercops site and installed SPYWARE BLASTER.  I then ended up with non stop pop ups about spyware, which replaced whatever page I was looking at at the time.  It also tried connecting with the internet every 5 mins

..................................

Problems like this are really winding me up.  Why should we have to buy expensive software to stop it.

MC

ps does anyone know if I can change Windows XP from Danish to English easily.  Again, I do not want to have to pay a fortune.

been frustrated beyond belief by those assholes.  re=formated about 2 weeks ago to get rid of black desktop, but i must have clicked on rogue site yesterday and it was back.  i tried several of the aforementioned methods with no luck.  on page 5 i found a web address posted by tygmannen.  it was http//:www.smart-security.info/removal.html.  it worked immediately (at least for now).  thanks tygmannen and thanks to TechGuide.   pat gibbs http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Curse Smartsecurity,

I got it on my comp and it completely made me crazy. No worries, i the background and some other stuff fixed, thanks to my buddy and the people at techguide, but now i get all of these popups and i found em to be from the following

WintoolsA (a few more like these but with A changed to other letters)
PIB
TBIS

my winpatrol scanner picks it up but everytime i disable/remove it it always comes back. i have 3 other spyware removal programs and none of them seem to be fixing the probelm. If anyone has an answer i would be more than thankful. I'm running XP windows and unfortunately cannot find my XP CD. otherwise i would have gotten rid of this sooner.

Thank you in advance

B|G

P.S  on page 3 of this forum one of the good samaritans has posted this mofo's billing info. any good ideas what to send him ?

smart security is a complete pain. I'm not sure I have the total solution, but this helps.

In IE go to tools > internet net options > content
Enable content advisor & select a password
select "approved sites" tab
enter the websites for this damn trojan/virus/spyware/whater & select "never"
This will keep your web browser from going to their sites & then you can work on getting rid of it. I haven't completely gotten rid of it, but am on my way.

Their websites:
213.159.117.134
213.159.117.150
213.159.117.150/index.pnp

Another thing that stupid thing did to me: In Tools-->Internet Options-->Security, your trusted sites thing is set to low. You might want to bring it back up.

Okay i dont know if anyone is still reading this but I came across it while I was looking for away to remove the SmartSecurity desktop. Well I finally got it off but now my PC is as slow as god knows what and the damn SS did some [censored] so now I cant access my Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) it says that it had been disabled by an administrator. And There are about 5 or 6 trojans and about 4 trojan downloaders on my computer that Norton has scanned but cannot remove because access is either denied or its just unable to remove it!

Can anyone help me??
