Network problems...
« on: June 14, 2004, 05:46:44 PM »
http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' /> Well - I have a router with a built in modem, 3 pcs running XP Home and one Mac. All share the internet connection with no problem - and I'm not too fussed about the Macs file sharing. But; my PC here can enter all the shared folders on the other PCs, and the other PCs can access they're shared folders - but neither of the other 2 PCs can access my shared folder at all. It was working at one point and I don't know quite what changed.

LAN games are no problem, the computers see each other and connect fine, and the other computers can see my computer in the work group its in but none of its folders are shared, even though I've set them to be shared on this computer - it's really confusing me and I'm wondering if anyone can help.

Thanks.

(It's also possible to connect to the shared folder on this computer through the other PCs by typing in its address i.e. \\server\shared in the map network drive - but it still says \\(Computername) is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resouce. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Access is denied.)

I've had a similar problem once the problem was usernames and passwords ... try making username/password the same on all 3 it might help

or do net use [drive:] \\[pc]\[share] /user:[USER]   with a existing user on that computer to make a network dirve on that pc with a different username//password then the one you are using
